Ireland in 2017. I guided a small group of fellow artists over a two-week exploration of Dublin, the Dingle Peninsula, along the Wild Atlantic Way, and inland to visit the Neolithic sites of Brú na Bóinne. We were enchanted by the verdant and rugged landscape, where human habitation and field boundaries feel part of the surrounding land after ages of mutual interaction. While traveling around Ireland I painted small watercolors and Autumn painted miniature oil paintings on canvas paper in Altoids mint tins en plein-air, giving us color notes and a feel for the spirit of place indispensable in creating our studio works at home from photographs taken on location. Some of Autumns' miniature paintings along with her pen and ink sketches will be on display for you to see the process of creating artwork informed by exploration and study on location. My Watercolors created from using the small plein air paintings as reference will grace the walls alongside Autumn's. We hope these works can take you back to the stunning beauty of Ireland, or inspire you to travel there yourself someday. Paintings are available at Tsuga Fine Art and Framing.
